Tejal loved to read. She would sit in my lap, and I would read books to her. She was just a little over a year old when we were looking at a picture book, and identifying different objects in the book, like apple, banana, clock, etc. We had read this book multiple times. When Tejal was just a little over one year old, she made her first connection to an item in the book. As I said clock, she tried repeating the word, and she pointed to a clock in the room. She was so little; I was in shock that she made the connection. She also made another connection a few weeks later, when she pointed to a bird flying in the sky, and said "bur".
By the time Tejal was about 2 years old, she had memorized the entire Curious George anthology. She used to bring me that book daily, for us to read. It got to the point, around the age of 2 years, and 3 months, when I could read the first part of any sentence, and she could finish the sentence, Tejal did not know how to read, but she had memorized the book from our multiple reads.
By the time she was three years old, Tejal stopped taking naps, because she said it was bright outside, and she didn't want to waste the day sleeping.
She is now 21 years old, and is still an avid learner. When she isn't studying in college, she takes online classes for fun, or volunteers, or exercises, or tries to find something productive to do or learn.
She is an amazing daughter, and we are very proud of her many accomplishments, and her thoughtful and kind soul.
