- all purpose Flour. (I personally use King Arthur Flour). 4 cups
-instant yeast (active). 1 tbsp
-salt. 1 tsp
-Oil. 2 tbsp
-Softened butter. 1 Tbsp
-Sugar 1 tbsp
-Warm water. 1 and a half cups
Pour a half cup of Warm Water in your bowl, add the Sugar, and sprinkle the Yeast over it. Leave it standing for about 10 minutes, till the mix is frothy.
In a larger bowl mix together the Flour, Salt and the Frothy mixture. Ideally you can use a wooden spoon to help with the mixing. Then add the remaining Warm Water and mix till it forms a ball. After that add the the Soft Butter and Oil and knead till you get a smooth dough. Make a smooth ball and store it in a bowl( greased ) , and cover it with a damp kitchen towel, until it doubles in size (approximately one hour).
On a flat surface, sprinkle some flour and knead the dough. Sprinkle some flour on it, put the ball of dough on it and divide it into six parts, shape each part into a ball. Apply oil and sprinkle flour on a 8 by 10 inch baking tray, and evenly place the balls, two rows of three each, evenly spaced.
Again cover with a damp kitchen towel, till the dough again almost doubles in size. (Maybe two hours).
Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (190 degrees C). Place a baking dish or pan with some water in it, on the base or lowest rack of the oven (this is so that there is moisture in the oven while cooking the bread, which helps in forming a crisp crust).
Bake for approximately 25-30 minutes, or until the top of the bread is golden brown in color.
Remove from the oven and move bread out of the hot pan, and allow bread to cool on a wired rack or a grill (this is so that the bread does not sweat).
Enjoy with your breakfast or have as a snack.
